President Droupadi Murmu launches inaugural PBG Soldierathon in New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the first President’s Bodyguard (PBG) Soldierathon on 2 August 2026 at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event, patronised by General (Dr) V. K. Singh, Governor of Mizoram, is designed to strengthen the bond between civilians and the Indian Armed Forces and to honour the 253‑year legacy of the PBG, the world’s only airborne cavalry regiment.

The Soldierathon commemorates 27 years since India’s victory in the Kargil War and features 10 km, 5 km, 3 km and “Cheer Buddy” runs open to participants of all ages. Proceeds will support the welfare of PBG troops and horses. The initiative is organised in partnership with Wonder Cement and Bhutani Infra.
