President Erdoğan says NATO summit in Ankara received overwhelmingly positive feedback

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told reporters after Friday prayers that the NATO leaders’ reactions to the summit held in Ankara were “very, very positive.” He said many countries sent thank‑you messages and made phone calls, and that the hospitality provided on the opening day left the leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, highly satisfied. Erdoğan added that spouses of the delegations also expressed their appreciation and that hosting the summit in Ankara, twenty years after Istanbul’s meeting, was a special source of pride for Turkey. The summit’s final communiqué noted that allied members signed new procurement agreements worth more than $50 billion.

Erdoğan used the occasion to also mention the recent re‑opening of Hagia Sophia for worship, calling it a benefit for the Muslim world, and briefly commented on Spain’s World Cup victory.
