President Iliana Yotova meets Bulgarian science Olympiad medalists

President Iliana Yotova held a meeting with Bulgaria’s medal‑winning students from the international science Olympiads in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics. The participants, together with their teachers, mentors and representatives of the Association of Olympiad Teams for Natural Sciences, were congratulated for earning a total of 20 medals this year – two gold, nine silver and nine bronze – with every competitor securing at least one award.

Yotova praised the young scholars’ curiosity, discipline, critical thinking and drive to improve, calling them the future of Bulgaria. She urged them to continue their education in the country and affirmed that the state will provide the necessary conditions for scientific work and technological development. The discussion also highlighted disparities in educational resources between the capital and other cities, the lack of adequate material support for Olympiad preparation, and the need for greater motivation among students and teachers. Yotova thanked the mentors and teachers for their dedication and called for collective efforts to overcome these challenges.
