Kosovo leaders address missing persons and presidential inauguration

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has visited the families of Salih Mëziu and Idriz Rrecaj, members of the ‘Intellectual Group’ who were abducted and disappeared by Serbian forces in 1999. Their remains were recently identified through DNA analysis after being discovered in a mass grave in Zubin Potok.

Kurti called for increased international pressure on Serbia, accusing the country of concealing crimes and withholding files related to the fate of the disappeared. He noted that over 1,500 individuals remain missing from the recent war, leaving families in a state of ongoing anxiety.

Separately, the newly elected President of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka-Pula, has received congratulatory messages from several world leaders, including the presidents of Finland, Slovenia, Albania, and North Macedonia. Leaders from Italy and Croatia also expressed support for her mandate, emphasizing regional stability and Kosovo’s path toward European integration.
