Karol Nawrocki summoned by prosecutors over Constitutional Tribunal dispute
Polish prosecutors have formally requested that President Karol Nawrocki designate a time and place to be interrogated as a witness. The investigation focuses on whether the President failed to fulfill his legal duties by refusing to swear in four judges—Marcin Dziurda, Krystian Markiewicz, Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, and Maciej Taborowski—who were elected by the Sejm to the Constitutional Tribunal in March 2026.
Investigators are examining potential complicity in preventing these judges from performing their duties and whether the President's refusal to accept their oaths was legally justified. The prosecution has already interrogated more than 40 witnesses, including staff from the President's Office and the Constitutional Tribunal.
President Nawrocki has stated he will comply with the summons, asserting that he is a citizen like any other and that his decisions are made personally.
