President Kast meets Governor Orrego at La Moneda

President José Antonio Kast met with Metropolitan Region Governor Claudio Orrego at La Moneda to discuss regional issues, including employment, infrastructure, and urban development. The meeting occurred shortly after the Electoral Qualifying Tribunal (Tricel) rejected a motion to remove Orrego from office, a move previously spearheaded by members of the Republican Party and the UDI.

The meeting has caused internal friction within the Republican Party due to its timing following the legal setback. Additionally, discussions regarding urban development have surfaced, specifically concerning proposed modifications to the General Ordinance of Urbanism and Construction (OGUC). Minister Iván Poduje recently withdrew Supreme Decree No. 68 from the Comptroller General's review process following scrutiny over these regulatory adjustments.
