President Lee calls for constitutional reform and new crime response measures

President Lee Jae-myung called for constitutional amendments to include the spirits of the Buma Democratic Uprising and the 5·18 Gwangju Democratization Movement in the preamble. During a senior presidential aide meeting at the Blue House, Lee emphasized that there is bipartisan consensus on this matter and urged political circles to move from words to action regarding constitutional reform.

Addressing public safety, the President ordered the creation of a pan-government joint response body to tackle relationship-based crimes and indiscriminate violent attacks. He stressed the need for customized prevention measures, particularly to protect vulnerable groups such as women, and called for enhanced field response capabilities and better management of high-risk offenders.

Additionally, marking the 500th day of the current administration, Lee identified housing, jobs, and finance as the three core social policy priorities. He directed officials to accelerate housing supply, implement job creation projects, and provide support to mitigate the impact of rising interest rates through debt adjustment and policy funding.
