President Lee discusses multicultural policy and political polarization
President Lee addressed concerns raised on the conservative online community ‘Femco’ regarding preferential treatment for multicultural families. Specifically, the discussion centered on the Seoul-style postpartum care center reservation system, where multicultural mothers and national merit recipients are both categorized in the second priority tier.
President Lee stated he would consult with local governments and consider revising enforcement decrees to determine whether such preferential systems should be abolished or modified to ensure fairness. He emphasized that even if opinions come from those who do not support him, valid points must be addressed.
Responding to criticism regarding his social media engagement, the President asserted that all citizens are sovereigns of the Republic of Korea regardless of political affiliation. He warned against extreme partisanism, stating that ignoring faults within one's own camp or criticizing successes of the opposition leads to a dark future for the nation.
