President Lee meets new U.S. Ambassador Michelle Steel

President Lee Jae Myung held a credentials presentation ceremony at Cheong Wa Dae, where he officially received the credentials of four new foreign envoys, including the new U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, Michelle Steel.

During a private discussion following the ceremony, President Lee expressed his expectation that Ambassador Steel, who possesses a deep understanding of Korean culture and society, would serve as a reliable bridge to further strengthen the South Korea-U.S. alliance. He noted that various bilateral issues could be resolved through rational and active dialogue and cooperation.

Ambassador Steel, a Korean American and former U.S. Representative, stated her pleasure in being appointed and pledged to communicate broadly with the Korean government and public to promote mutual understanding and friendly cooperation. This meeting marks the first formal encounter between the President and the new U.S. Ambassador.
