President Lee Jae-myung faces scrutiny over canceled Jeju golf trip

President Lee Jae-myung is facing allegations regarding a planned three-day golf trip in Jeju during his visit for the 107th National Sports Festival. Aviation notices (NOTAM) revealed requests for airspace control near a cluster of golf courses in Seogwipo, along with flight plans for the presidential aircraft to travel between Jeju and Seongnam Airport.

These requests were abruptly canceled approximately six hours after being registered. Critics, including Representative Choi Eun-seok of the People Power Party, suggested the sudden changes may have occurred following a fire in Bucheon. The representative criticized the administration for disorganized scheduling, alleging that the confusion contributed to significant flight delays at Jeju International Airport, where domestic departures surged by over 112%.

While the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated that delays were primarily due to increased traffic volume, the incident has drawn criticism regarding the President's itinerary and its impact on public convenience.
