President Lee Jae-myung faces strategic choice as approval ratings stabilize

President Lee Jae-myung has recently utilized social media to communicate government policies, such as medical expense relief and voice phishing refund cases, and to address public concerns like rising chicken prices. While these direct communications are noted as a positive step toward transparency, analysts suggest that mere promotion is insufficient unless the government actively incorporates public feedback and addresses the underlying causes of citizen dissatisfaction.

Recent polling data indicates a stabilization in President Lee’s approval ratings after a period of decline. According to the Korea Society Opinion Research Institute (KSOI), positive evaluations stood at 38.5% against 57.8% negative. Other surveys showed positive ratings around 43%.

Data analysis suggests that the previous decline in support was largely driven by a significant loss of support among moderate voters, who saw a roughly 40% shift from supporters to non-supporters. Political analysts note that the administration faces a strategic choice between focusing on its core progressive base or attempting to regain the support of the moderate middle to maintain political stability.
