President Lee Jae-myung prioritizes housing, jobs, and finance
President Lee Jae-myung has designated housing, employment, and finance as the three core social policies to be prioritized for the remainder of the year. During a senior presidential aide meeting, Lee emphasized the need to accelerate housing supply based on life-cycle demand and to implement a national job project covering both public and private sectors.
Regarding the financial sector, the President requested focused efforts on supplying policy funds, supporting interest rate reductions, and providing customized debt adjustments. This comes amid government concerns that employment growth could slow due to rising tensions in the Middle East, which may impact oil prices, raw material costs, and export activities.
To stabilize the labor market, the government plans to train over 200,000 specialists in high-tech and preferred industries and create more than 200,000 high-quality jobs. Additionally, Lee addressed recent violent crimes, ordering the establishment of a government-wide response body to combat indiscriminate and relationship-based crimes with a “war-like” determination.
