President Lee returns from France state visit to address Nepal relief and security

President Lee Jae-myung returned to South Korea on the 10th following a state visit to France. During the visit, Lee met with President Emmanuel Macron to discuss cooperation in advanced sectors including AI, nuclear energy, and defense. Additionally, both nations announced plans to invest 500 million euros each into the film and video industries over the next five years.

Upon his return, the President immediately addressed several pressing domestic and international issues. He issued instructions to support the families of South Korean citizens missing in the recent Nepal floods, emphasizing that their wishes should be respected in any government response. The government is currently planning to dispatch a second team of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) to continue search efforts.

Other urgent matters facing the administration include the security situation in the Hormuz Strait following the return of a Ministry of Defense investigation team, and the implementation of a $350 billion investment plan in the United States. Domestically, the administration faces challenges regarding cabinet appointments and declining approval ratings.
