President Lula expands pre‑campaign team and pushes to end Brazil's 6‑day work week

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is intensifying his pre‑campaign for the 2026 Brazilian presidential election. His team is promoting the termination of the “6 × 1” work schedule, proposing a 40‑hour week with two days off and no loss of salary, a policy aimed at attracting undecided voters and cutting historic rejection of his party.

Lula has also broadened his campaign coordination, installing a new committee in the Lago Sul district of Brasília and adding a larger share of women, young activists and regional representatives. New members include senator Camilo Santana, PT youth secretaries Júlia Kopf and Luna Zarattini, and communication staff such as photographer Ricardo Stuckert and publicist Raul Rabelo. The expanded team will handle digital outreach, regional organization and voter engagement ahead of the election.
