President Lula inaugurates IF Goiano campus and University Hospital in Goiás

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited the state of Goiás on 2 June, opening the new permanent campus of the Instituto Federal Goiano (IF Goiano) in Catalão. The campus, built under the New PAC, cost R$ 8.9 million, with R$ 6.5 million from federal funds, and replaces a rented facility. It now serves about 1,210 students in technical and professional courses, includes administrative and pedagogical blocks, laboratories, a library, auditorium and a student restaurant under construction.

During the same trip, Lula also inaugurated the Hospital Universitário of the Federal University of Catalão (UFCat). The federal investment of R$ 27 million equipped the hospital with digital records and a Da Vinci X robotic surgery system, positioning it as a reference for minimally invasive procedures within the SUS network. Afterwards, the president visited the Hospital Municipal Universitário in Rio Verde, highlighting its recent robotic surgeries. The agenda underscores the federal government's push to expand education and health infrastructure in Brazil’s interior ahead of the 2026 electoral calendar.
