President Lula laments delay of 6x1 work schedule vote
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed disappointment regarding the postponement of the vote in the Senate plenary for the Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) aimed at ending the 6x1 work schedule. The proposal seeks to expand weekly rest to two days for workers.
Lula stated he was unsure of the reasons behind Senate President Davi Alcolumbre's decision to delay the analysis. According to the President, Alcolumbre informed senators that the matter would be brought to a vote following the first round of elections.
The PEC 221/2019 recently passed through the Senate's Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) and now requires two rounds of voting in the plenary. Lula emphasized that the change would improve workers' quality of life by allowing more time for family, study, and personal activities.
