President Lula signs decrees for 19 new federal institutes in Brazil

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has signed authorization decrees for 19 new federal institute units across 12 Brazilian states. The announcement followed a visit to new campus construction sites for the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP) in the East Zone of São Paulo.

The Unifesp expansion includes several large structures designed to house classrooms, laboratories, a library, an auditorium, and specialized spaces for engineering and architecture. Meanwhile, the new IFSP campus in Cidade Tiradentes has already begun offering professional qualification courses in English, Portuguese, and Brazilian culture for foreigners, with technical high school courses in fields such as computing, game programming, and digital audiovisual expected to launch in 2027.
