President Mahama inspects Bolgatanga Airport site

President John Dramani Mahama is conducting a two-day tour of the Upper East Region to inspect various development projects and engage with local residents. During the visit, the President inspected the proposed site for the Bolgatanga Airport at Suburugu, a project intended to improve regional air connectivity.

President Mahama stated that the airport project is currently in the procurement stage and expressed optimism that construction could begin before the end of the year. He assured residents that once construction commences, the project is expected to be completed within 24 months, though contractors have suggested it may be finished sooner. This airport is part of a broader government initiative to expand infrastructure, which includes planned new airports in Wa and Sunyani.

Other activities on the President’s itinerary include inspecting the Navrongo-Chuchuliga-Tumu road, commissioning an E-Block in Paga, and inspecting a laboratory complex at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Navrongo. He is also scheduled to cut the sod for the Tongo-Shega-Pelungu road and inspect the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road.
