President Mahama pledges $2bn annual funding for jobs in 2027 Budget
President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the 2027 Budget will allocate approximately $2 billion annually to nine specific economic sectors aimed at accelerating job creation. Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs in Accra, the President emphasized that the initiative will be driven by the private sector rather than state-owned enterprises.
Mahama stated that the government’s role is to act as an enabler, providing resources to support private-sector activities. While the President identified the scale of the funding, specific details regarding the nine targeted sectors, the exact funding mechanisms, and the implementation timeline have not yet been released. The Finance Minister is expected to provide comprehensive details when the 2027 Budget is presented to Parliament in November.
