President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers Awards on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 5, 2026, to mark Teachers’ Day. The awardees represent 27 states, seven Union Territories, and six central government organizations. The group includes 26 men and 22 women.

The selection was conducted by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education through a rigorous three-stage process involving district, state, and national levels. The awards recognize educators who have improved the quality of school education and enriched student lives.

Notable awardees include Pushpa Prasad from Bihar, who utilized virtual reality and activity-based learning to engage students in flood-affected areas, and Bhavani Bompelly from Telangana, who implemented joyful teaching methods and technical education to increase school enrollment.
