President Nicușor Dan criticizes Romanian public discourse

President Nicușor Dan addressed the state of public discourse during the opening of the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth at the National Cathedral in Bucharest. He argued that the national conversation is currently dominated by two extremes: "defeatists" who believe progress in Romania is impossible, and "demagogues" who exploit historical elements for political gain.

Dan called for a "healthy form of nationalism" and expressed concern that the voices of those working sincerely for the country are being drowned out. He also criticized certain segments of society for lacking decent testimony, suggesting that the public sphere is being influenced by what he termed "Pharisees."
