President Nicușor Dan to attend European Arctic Summit in Finland

President Nicușor Dan will attend the European Arctic Summit in Rovaniemi, Finland, on September 13-14, 2026. Initiated by Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, the summit brings together various European leaders, including the Chancellors and Prime Ministers of Germany, Poland, and Denmark, alongside high-ranking EU officials such as European Council President António Costa and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.

The summit aims to strengthen the European Union's strategic approach to the Arctic region, focusing on its increasing geopolitical, economic, and climate significance. Discussions will center on defining a more ambitious EU role regarding Arctic security and economic development.

During the summit, President Dan is expected to present Romania's vision for managing security challenges that span from the Arctic to the Black Sea.
