President Paul Kagame engages 10,000 youth in Kigali

President Paul Kagame held an interactive session with over 10,000 young Rwandans at the BK Arena in Kigali during the ‘#MeetThePresident’ event. The gathering included government officials, social media influencers, musicians, and representatives from various sectors to discuss national development and personal challenges.

During the dialogue, Kagame emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and national unity. He specifically addressed the issues of substance abuse, urging young people to overcome addictions to alcohol and drugs to ensure they can contribute effectively to the country. He also highlighted concerns regarding teenage pregnancy and the need for individual discipline.

Addressing financial management, Kagame advised youth to prioritize long-term investments over short-term extravagance. He recounted an instance where he suggested a young man redirect a proposed 10 million Rwandan Franc wedding budget toward building a home instead. Kagame argued that property ownership provides more lasting benefits for livelihoods and national progress than lavish celebrations.
