President Peter Pellegrini honors Slovak National Uprising anniversary

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini participated in the 38th annual hiking trek between the partisan villages of Zlatno and Skýcov in the Zlaté Moravce district. The event commemorates the 82nd anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP).

During his address at the SNP Memorial in Skýcov, Pellegrini reflected on the historical tragedies of the region, noting that the area witnessed the devastation of fascist ideology, which resulted in burned villages and the loss of innocent lives, including women and children. He also highlighted the heroism of the nation, specifically the courage of ancestors who fought for freedom under difficult conditions.

Addressing modern patriotism, the President stated that expressing love for one's country is not limited to armed struggle. He emphasized that patriotism is demonstrated through daily actions, such as working to improve life in Slovakia, helping one another, and rejecting all forms of hatred. Pellegrini concluded by expressing his hope that Slovakia remains a peaceful, safe, and stable nation despite global tensions and conflicts.
