Prabowo Subianto expands SMA Taruna Nusantara and announces free tuition

President Prabowo Subianto has announced that the government will provide free education for all students at SMA Taruna Nusantara. This policy was unveiled during the inauguration of the school’s new Cimahi campus in West Java on October 30, 2026.

To increase access to high-quality education, the government is rapidly expanding the school’s network. Originally established in 1990 with a single campus in Magelang, Central Java, the institution has grown to include six locations: Magelang, Malang, Cimahi, Pagar Alam, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), and Langowan.

Addressing perceptions of elitism, President Prabowo described the school as a specialized training ground designed to identify and nurture the nation’s top talent. He compared the institution to an athletic training center for Olympians, emphasizing that Indonesia requires structured systems to produce experts in fields such as engineering, science, and technology to ensure future national progress.
