President Prabowo Subianto visited Central Java on 30 July 2026, inaugurating the restoration of the historic Semarang Tawang Station, a heritage railway building dating to 1914. After the ceremony, he travelled on the newly launched Kereta Api Nusantara Explorer, PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s premium service, heading from Semarang to Batang.

During the ride, Prabowo praised KAI for supporting national tourism, urged the company to continue expanding high‑quality rail services, and referenced President Soekarno’s vision of aiming “as high as the sky”. The event highlights Indonesia’s push to preserve heritage assets while promoting rail‑based tourism.
