President Ramaphosa releases report exonerating Adv Andrew Chauke

President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorized the public release of the Nkabinde Panel of Enquiry report, which investigated whether Gauteng South Director of Public Prosecutions, Adv Andrew Chauke, was fit to hold office.

Adv Chauke had been suspended since July 20, 2025, following serious allegations regarding his fitness and propriety. The inquiry, established in September 2025 under the National Prosecuting Authority Act, was chaired by Justice Baaitse Elizabeth Nkabinde.

The panel concluded there was no credible evidence to suggest Adv Chauke made improper prosecutorial decisions regarding the Cato Manor matter or acted unlawfully in his coordination functions. Following these findings, President Ramaphosa informed Adv Chauke that he had been exonerated and that there was no basis to conclude he was unfit for his position.
