President Ramaphosa to address 26th National Teaching Awards

President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to address the 26th National Teaching Awards (NTAs) on Thursday, 1 October 2026. The ceremony will be held at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Benoni, Gauteng Province.

Hosted annually by the Department of Basic Education, the awards aim to recognize educators for their dedication, innovation, and leadership within South Africa’s schooling system. The event focuses on promoting excellence in teaching and enhancing the public image of the profession.

Categories for recognition include Excellence in Grade R Teaching, Primary and Secondary School Teaching and Leadership, Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (FET), the Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement Award, and the National Best Teacher Award.
