Barack Obama visits Portugal for forum and meeting with President Seguro
Former U.S. President Barack Obama visited Portugal to participate as the keynote speaker at the 6th edition of the Game Changers Forum in Lisbon. Addressing an audience of approximately 10,000 people at the MEO Arena, Obama spoke on themes of leadership, democratic values, international security, and the rapid development of artificial intelligence. He warned of growing threats to democracy, including political polarization and the potential for economic uncertainty to fuel extreme nationalism.
During his stay, Obama met privately with Portuguese President António José Seguro at the Palácio de Belém to discuss international current affairs.
In addition to his official engagements, Obama made a private visit to the Costa Terra Golf & Ocean Club near Melides in the Alentejo region. The visit was conducted under high security with a significant police presence, leading to local speculation regarding potential real estate interests in the area, though no official confirmation was provided.
