President Seguro defends Lusa news agency independence

In a video message delivered during a conference celebrating Lusa’s 40th anniversary at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, the President expressed his hope that the agency’s autonomy would never be weakened.

Seguro highlighted Lusa as a vital institution, noting its role as the largest producer and distributor of news regarding Portugal and the Portuguese-speaking world. He commended the agency for successfully navigating the modern challenges facing social communication and praised its essential attribute of credibility, describing it as a reference of trust for the Portuguese people.
