President Siljanovska-Davkova distances herself from intelligence officer appointment

The Office of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova has distanced itself from the appointment of intelligence officer Kiro Todorovski as a representative of the Intelligence Agency in Vienna. The controversy arose after reports indicated that Todorovski had previously received a suspended sentence for electoral irregularities in the “Titanic” case.

The President's Office clarified that the Intelligence Agency is an independent body of the state administration. According to the President's Office, personnel decisions, including the selection of representatives, are signed by the Director of the Agency, Gabriela Jakovleva, rather than the President. Following this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs issues the decision for referral.

The case was brought to light following reports to the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, which questioned Todorovski's reinstatement to the agency, his receipt of a state secret certificate, and his subsequent assignment to Vienna.
