President Tinubu attends MKO Abiola documentary premiere in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu attended the national premiere of ‘MKO’, a documentary chronicling the life and political legacy of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. Held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos, the event coincided with Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Directed by Nigerian-American filmmaker Ose Oyamendan, the film explores Abiola’s role in the June 12, 1993, presidential election and the subsequent pro-democracy struggle following the annulment of the results by the military government. The documentary utilizes archival footage and first-hand accounts to examine the political crisis and the movement to restore democratic governance in Nigeria.

The premiere was attended by numerous high-ranking officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and various members of the National Assembly. Following its Lagos launch, the documentary is scheduled for a nationwide cinema release.
