President Tinubu commends Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate
President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, for his leadership in transforming Nigeria’s healthcare sector. The commendation was issued in conjunction with Pate’s 58th birthday.
Tinubu highlighted several key achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda, including the revitalization of over 3,100 primary healthcare centers and the reorganization of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), which has enabled more than 37 million Nigerians to access basic healthcare. To combat medical tourism, the administration is establishing three oncology centers across different geopolitical zones.
To address the impact of brain drain, the government has recruited over 20,000 health professionals into federal tertiary hospitals and trained more than 78,000 frontline workers. Additionally, over 17.1 million adolescent girls have received HPV vaccinations to prevent cervical cancer. The President also noted that the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) has secured a project pipeline exceeding $5 billion in investments for the nation’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
