Vietnam leaders host Swiss President and prepare for EU, Denmark visits

Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam is conducting a series of high-level diplomatic visits to strengthen international relations. From October 19 to 24, 2026, To Lam will undertake a state visit to Denmark and official visits to the European Union and Belgium. The visit to Denmark marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and represents the first state visit to Denmark by a Vietnamese Party General Secretary.

In Switzerland, President Guy Parmelin and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on October 17, 2026, for an official two-day visit. This visit coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Switzerland, following the establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership in early 2025. Bilateral trade between the two nations exceeded 1 billion USD in 2025.

Additionally, Liechtenstein Prime Minister Brigitte Haas is conducting an official visit to Vietnam. This marks the first visit by a Liechtenstein leader to Vietnam since diplomatic relations were established in 2008. Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Liechtenstein reached 9.8 million USD in 2025, and Liechtenstein maintains one active direct investment project in Vietnam with 4 million USD in registered capital.
