President Trump restores D.C. Reflecting Pool and plans 250th‑anniversary rally

President Donald Trump announced the completion of a renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. The project, finished in months at a cost of about $13 million, replaced the deteriorated surface with a blue sealant and repaired leaks, a fraction of the earlier estimate of $300 million.

On June 24, Trump also scheduled a large celebration rally in the capital to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary. The event, billed as the “greatest rally ever,” will feature performances by Lee Greenwood, the U.S. Army Band, the Marine Band and other military choirs, and a speech by the president. The rally follows the withdrawal of several mainstream artists from a related state‑fair concert, prompting Trump to promise a distinctly patriotic program.

Both initiatives are presented as symbols of the nation’s revitalization under Trump’s leadership.
