President William Ruto promises title deeds to Makueni residents
President William Ruto has pledged to grant title deeds to residents of Makueni County who are currently living on land gazetted as part of the Chyulu Hills and Tsavo East National Parks.
During the commissioning of Kathekani Senior School, Ruto acknowledged that while residents had encroached upon the national park, he intends to move the park borders to accommodate them. He directed the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to hand over the land under settlement to the locals and promised to provide adjacent land to replace the area being ceded to the residents.
Once the land is partitioned and the borders are adjusted, the National Land Commission will process the title deeds. Ruto also pledged Ksh5 million for a school bus for Kathekani Senior Secondary School and committed to including Makueni County in the national development plan.
