President Yotova unveils Alexander Battenberg monument in Ruse

Bulgarian President Iliana Yotova inaugurated a bust monument dedicated to Alexander I Battenberg, the first head of state following Bulgaria's liberation, in the city of Ruse.

During the ceremony, President Yotova highlighted Battenberg's historical significance, noting that his political journey began in Ruse. She emphasized his role in the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia, describing the event as a symbol of a purely Bulgarian endeavor.

The President also noted Ruse's importance as a diplomatic gateway for the young state, where the Prince held many of his most significant political meetings. The unveiling follows the significant historical date of September 6.
