Presidente Figueiredo studio apartment destroyed by gas fire

A fire completely destroyed a studio apartment in the Portelinha neighborhood of Presidente Figueiredo on Saturday night. The blaze was triggered by a pressure cooker explosion that melted a gas cylinder hose, causing a rapid leak and spreading flames that reached heights of over four meters.

The resident, an elderly man, attempted to fight the fire himself and sustained minor burns before being transported to a municipal hospital. Neighbors assisted in containing the flames using water buckets to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent connected units. While the structure suffered total loss and nearby walls cracked due to the heat, the combined efforts of residents and the Fire Department prevented a larger tragedy.
