Urânia man arrested for threatening to explode Brasília ministries

A 60-year-old man was arrested in Urânia, São Paulo, following an investigation by the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) regarding threats made against ministries in Brasília. The investigation was initiated after the Division for the Prevention and Combat of Violent Extremism received information from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security regarding calls in which the suspect threatened to “explode the ministries” and disrupt the functioning of government institutions.

During a search and seizure operation at his residence, authorities did not find any weapons or explosive devices. The suspect reportedly stated that his intention was to “draw attention” through the phone calls, which were made from his own mobile device and primarily targeted the Ministry of Justice. The PCDF continues to monitor the situation to prevent extremist actions that could impact the electoral process.
