Presidential Amnesty Programme sends 54 scholars to UK

Fifty-four postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have arrived in London to begin studies at various United Kingdom universities. The scholars departed from Abuja as part of a larger group of 150 students who participated in a pre-departure orientation in August.

This latest deployment brings the total number of offshore postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries sent by the PAP this year to 243. The students are enrolled in diverse fields, including software engineering, cyber-security, global public health, oil and gas engineering, law, fintech analytics, construction engineering management, forensic auditing, and data science analytics.

PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro stated that education is a central vehicle for the socio-economic advancement and sustainable peace of the Niger Delta. He emphasized that the initiative aims to build a pool of highly skilled professionals in sectors such as environmental management and public policy to support regional stability. Otuaro urged the scholars to act as ambassadors for Nigeria and the Niger Delta and to return home to apply their expertise to their communities.
