Presidential Chancellery addresses debate remuneration controversy

The Presidential Chancellery has issued a statement addressing allegations regarding the remuneration of journalist Dorota Gawryluk. Gawryluk moderated a debate featuring Krzysztof Stanowski, Rafał Ziemkiewicz, and Professor Andrzej Nowak during celebrations marking the anniversary of Karol Nawrocki’s inauguration as head of state.

Following criticism and questions regarding potential payments for her participation, the Chancellery clarified that Gawryluk did not receive any compensation for moderating the debate. Gawryluk defended her involvement, stating that “debates are the salt of democracy” and noting that she was invited by the head of state. She expressed willingness to participate in debates regardless of the political affiliation of the hosts, including figures such as Prime Minister Tusk or Marshal Czarzasty.

Other commentators, including Krzysztof Ziemiec, noted that journalists frequently moderate official ceremonies at the Presidential Palace without receiving payment, suggesting the controversy lacks merit.
