Presidents Cup spectator kicks ball onto green at Medinah
During the Presidents Cup foursomes at Medinah, a spectator intervened in a shot by Corey Conners. After Conners' approach shot drifted toward the rough beyond the boundary fence, a spectator kicked the moving ball onto the putting surface.
While the ball landed approximately 13 feet from the hole, PGA Tour rules official Mark Dusbabek ruled that the ball must be treated as out of bounds due to the deliberate intervention. Dusbabek stated that officials must estimate where the ball would have landed had it not been deflected, and in this instance, that location was out of bounds.
The ruling prevented Conners and partner Nick Taylor from benefiting from the spectator's action. The Canadian pair ultimately lost the hole, allowing the American team to extend their lead.
