Presidents Cup 2026 begins at Medinah Country Club

The 16th Presidents Cup begins this week at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois, featuring a matchup between Team USA and the International Team. The United States enters as the heavy favorite, having won 13 of the previous 15 editions and maintaining a 10-tournament winning streak. Team USA is led by captain Brandt Snedeker, while the International Team is captained by Geoff Ogilvy.

Opening sessions include five four-ball matches on Thursday, followed by foursomes on Friday, and a mix of formats on Saturday, concluding with singles matches on Sunday. Notable pairings for the opening day include world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns facing Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im. Other key matchups feature Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young against Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune.

Discussions surrounding the event include the controversial exclusion of J. J. Spaun from the American roster despite his recent success, and debates regarding the tournament's 30-point format compared to the Ryder Cup. Weather forecasts for the Medinah area suggest mild and stable conditions for the majority of the tournament, with potential rain on the final day.
