Press Museum acquires first volume of Neologos Patron newspaper

The Press Museum of ESIEPEN has acquired a significant historical volume of the newspaper ‘Neologos Patron’, marking a transition of the publication from a private to a public archive. The donated volume contains the very first issue of the newspaper, dated August 15, 1894, and includes all subsequent issues through March 1895.

The donation was made by author and researcher Ioanna Papandroulou-Berthoud, a descendant of the Papandroulou family that founded the newspaper, accompanied by her husband, Jean Remmy Berthoud. The move aims to make this piece of Patras's journalistic history accessible to researchers and the general public for historical study.

‘Neologos Patron’ was a prominent newspaper that recorded the political and social life of Patras for approximately eight decades. Its archives remain a valuable resource for studying various historical periods, including the interwar years and the Occupation.
