Press Union of Liberia marks 62nd anniversary

The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) will celebrate its 62nd anniversary on September 30, 2026, in Monrovia. The event, themed ‘62 Years On: Empowering Independent Media for Democracy, Accountability, and Sustainable Development,’ aims to address critical issues facing the nation's media sector, including journalists' welfare, press freedom, and professional ethics.

Activities will include a parade through Monrovia and a program featuring keynote addresses and panel discussions. During the event, the PUL will release a report from the National Media Council of Liberia regarding recent ethical breaches and infringements on press freedom. Additionally, the Union will promote its initiative to construct a permanent National Headquarters to serve as a hub for media advocacy, training, and professional protection.
