Preta Gil's son announces new album and honors her legacy

On the day that would have been singer Preta Gil's 52nd birthday, her son Francisco Gil announced his second solo album. He shared that the artist had been able to listen to some of the tracks before her passing in July 2025 due to cancer complications.

Francisco Gil described the project as a tribute to his mother, noting that the first two songs, "Reconstruir" and "Mancha de Dendê," are scheduled for release on August 18. He also shared reflections on a planned trip to India that he eventually took in her memory.

In conjunction with these tributes, Globoplay released the final episode of the original series "Meu Nome é Preta." The documentary concludes by focusing on the artist's passion for Carnival and her transparency regarding her battle with cancer, featuring testimonials from family and prominent figures such as Ivete Sangalo and Gominho.
