Preveza and Volos host major Greek beach volley and track championships

The town of Preveza in western Greece hosted the Regional Beach Volley Western Greece competition for the U17 and U19 categories, featuring 50 teams from the wider region. Winners in each category will secure qualification for the finals of the Panhellenic Championship. The event was attended by Mayor Nikos Georgakos, who highlighted the municipality’s support for youth sport and the town’s ability to host significant athletic events.

In Volos, the Stoiximan Panhellenic Athletics Championships for men and women will be staged at the Panthessaliko Stadium on July 25‑26. More than 2,000 athletes, coaches, officials and spectators are expected. The two‑day meet honors the memory of Ilias Misaileidis and Kostas Papanasatios and includes top Greek athletes such as Milto Tentsoglou, Katerina Stefanidi, Emmanuel Karalis and Elina Zengko. Organized by SEGAS in cooperation with the municipal sports directorate, the competition is free to the public and continues a four‑year streak of Volos hosting the nation’s premier track‑and‑field event.
