Preveza authorities investigate neglect of three minors

Authorities in Preveza are investigating a case of severe neglect and malnutrition involving three siblings from the Ziros Municipality. The children, two boys aged 13 and 7 and an 8-year-old girl, were transferred to Preveza General Hospital on Tuesday, September 1, following an urgent prosecutor's order.

The intervention was prompted by complaints from relatives. Medical examinations confirmed signs of significant neglect and malnutrition, leading to the children being removed from their family environment. Reports indicate the mother has left the family home.

Michalis Giannakos, president of POEDHN, has raised concerns regarding the security of the minors while in the hospital. He noted that the children are not under police guard and that the father has been seen loitering outside the medical facility. Giannakos emphasized that nursing staff cannot be responsible for acting as security guards and called for immediate measures to ensure the children's safety. The case is currently under the jurisdiction of social services and the justice system to determine the next steps for the children's protection.
