Preveza launches new Green Point recycling centre

The Municipality of Preveza has approved a program agreement with the Epirus Regional Waste Management Agency (FODSA Epirus) to operate a Green Point recycling facility in the city’s industrial zone. Mayor Nikos Georgakos announced that the centre will allow residents to separately deposit recyclable materials and special waste streams such as bulky items, mattresses, furniture and electrical appliances, aiming to increase recycling rates, promote material reuse and reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills. The Green Point joins the unified network of recycling points across Epirus, enhancing coordination, achieving economies of scale and delivering environmental and economic benefits for the municipality.

The project is presented as both an ecological upgrade and a cost‑saving measure for the local community, supporting cleaner urban living and sustainable waste management practices.
