Pérez Art Museum Miami hosts European modernists and Latin American masters

The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) has inaugurated a major exhibition featuring nearly 100 works from the Berggruen Museum in Berlin. The showcase, titled “Picasso-Klee-Matisse,” brings together European modernists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, Alberto Giacometti, Paul Cézanne, and Georges Braque.

In a departure from its usual focus on contemporary art, PAMM is dedicating its largest galleries to modernism. The exhibition is unique for placing European masters in dialogue with Latin American artists, including Mexico’s Diego Rivera, Uruguay’s Joaquín Torres-García, and Cuba’s Wifredo Lam. Curators noted that the Berggruen collection has never before been exhibited alongside Latin American creators.

The exhibition explores 20th-century artistic transformations and themes of migration and exile. The Berggruen Museum collection is currently on a global tour due to renovations in Berlin. This exhibition in Miami is scheduled to remain open until February 2027.
